About Kathrin
Kathrin Wienberg is a German photographer and visual storyteller working across portraiture, documentary observation and loose editorial imagery.
Driven by art, music and an enduring curiosity about human behaviour, her work unfolds somewhere between careful preparation and intuition. Her photographs are calm, cinematic and attentive to the things that rarely announce themselves loudly: identity, connection, subtle gestures and the stories beneath the visible surface.
Whether Kathrin is photographing a person, a wedding or a brand, her approach remains the same. She listens, researches and creates a clear plan before the camera enters the room. That structure gives her the freedom to respond to what cannot be planned — and to recognise the moments that carry more than appearance.
Her task is not to reinvent what stands in front of her, but to look closer.
Kathrin’s independent projects explore that idea from different perspectives. For Diversity in East Frisia, she photographed around one hundred people without names, origins or identifying labels, questioning how quickly we form assumptions about others. The Weight of Grace brought classical ballet into the raw architecture of a concrete parking structure, exploring the tension between strength and elegance. Her ongoing series Waves of Emotion looks at how music becomes memory, identity and physical expression.
Alongside her personal work, Kathrin creates commissioned photography for brands, creatives and public campaigns — from intimate portraits to images displayed on large-scale billboards.
Based in Germany, she works across Europe and wherever a story takes her.

Music has always had an unusually physical effect on Kathrin — the kind that causes goosebumps, shifts a mood within seconds or turns an ordinary moment into something cinematic. She is fascinated by how sound can trigger memory, emotion and imagery, despite being entirely incapable of making music herself.Film, art, architecture and the places she travels through work in much the same way. They become fragments that eventually reappear somewhere else — in a colour, a composition, a movement or the beginning of a new project.I carry those experiences into every session.
